We will uncover the “mystery” behind the Internet. What happens when you type a URL into your browser so that a webpage magically appears? During this week, you will learn the basic building blocks of Web design and style – HTML5 and CSS# – to create a website with a professional look and feel using modern technologies. Discover the science behind Suminigashi painting and circuitry while designing and building your own Japanese Shoji lamp. Using recycled materials, build a “robotic” hand and learn about the mechanics of 3D printed prosthetic hands. Visit the Cade Museum’s Creativity Lab to dive into the world of light and color while making a mandala inspired spinning disk and your own 3D glasses.

Scratch makes programming fun and intuitive, yet is extensible and powerful enough to support general computation. Learn about different printing methods through time as you use the Cade Museum’s own 19th century printing press, create carved block prints, and develop pop-art inspired portraits on the computer. Discover the physical forces involved in kite-flying while creating your own kite.
